Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: April 10, 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) governs your use of the Briefcase AI speech therapy practice platform at speech.briefcaseai.io (the “Service”), operated by Briefcase AI. This AUP is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms of Service. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in the Terms of Service.
1. Intended Use
The Service is designed exclusively for speech and language therapy practice for children under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian. All use of the Service must be consistent with this purpose.
2. Account Integrity
You must NOT:
- Create an account for a child unless you are that child’s parent or legal guardian
- Create a child profile using a false or fictitious identity
- Misrepresent your relationship to any child whose profile you create or manage
- Misrepresent your age, identity, or role (parent, SLP, or administrator)
- Create multiple accounts for the same person to circumvent usage limits or subscription requirements
- Share your account credentials with any other individual
- Allow any unauthorized person to access the Service through your account
3. Audio Recording Requirements
The Service records audio during practice sessions. To protect all users — especially children — you must NOT:
- Upload or record audio of any individual other than the enrolled child associated with the active child profile
- Upload pre-recorded audio files instead of live practice recordings
- Record audio that contains personally identifiable information of third parties (e.g., other children’s names, addresses, or sensitive information spoken aloud)
- Record audio that is offensive, threatening, harassing, or illegal in nature
- Attempt to use the speech recognition system for any purpose other than pronunciation scoring of therapy target words
4. Data Protection
You must NOT:
- Attempt to access, download, or export audio recordings, transcripts, or personal information of any user other than your own children
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract any speech recognition model, scoring logic, or other proprietary technology underlying the Service
- Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download any data from the Service using automated tools
- Attempt to de-anonymize or re-identify any aggregated or de-identified data
- Use any data obtained from the Service for purposes unrelated to your child’s speech therapy practice
5. Service Integrity
You must NOT:
- Interfere with, disrupt, or impair the Service or its infrastructure (including servers, networks, and databases)
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service, other accounts, or connected systems
- Introduce malicious software, viruses, or harmful code
- Use the Service to conduct denial-of-service attacks or exploit security vulnerabilities
- Circumvent or disable any security, authentication, or access control features
- Use automated scripts, bots, or tools to interact with the Service (except as explicitly permitted through our API, if applicable)
- Overwhelm the Service with excessive requests that degrade performance for other users
6. Content Standards
Although the Service is primarily designed for structured speech practice (where the child says specific target words), any content you contribute through notes, feedback, or communications must NOT:
- Be unlawful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or invasive of another’s privacy
- Contain sexually explicit material or material harmful to minors
- Promote violence, discrimination, or hatred against any individual or group
- Infringe any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, or other intellectual property rights
- Contain false or misleading information
7. SLP Professional Obligations
If you access the Service as a speech-language pathologist (SLP):
- You must comply with all applicable professional ethics codes and licensing requirements
- You must maintain the confidentiality of all patient/client information you access through the Service
- You must not use client data obtained through the Service for research, publication, or any purpose beyond direct clinical care without appropriate consent and institutional review board (IRB) approval
- You must not share your SLP account credentials with unlicensed individuals
8. Legal Compliance
You must comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and professional standards when using the Service, including but not limited to:
- The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and its implementing regulations
- The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), if applicable to your use
- State and federal laws governing the recording of individuals
- Professional licensing requirements for speech-language pathology
9. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of any violation of this Acceptable Use Policy, please report it immediately to abuse@briefcasebrain.com. We will investigate all reports and take appropriate action, which may include account suspension or termination.
10. Enforcement
We reserve the right to investigate any suspected violation of this AUP. If we determine that a violation has occurred, we may take any of the following actions without prior notice:
- Issue a warning
- Temporarily suspend your access to the Service
- Permanently terminate your account
- Remove or disable access to any content that violates this AUP
- Report the violation to law enforcement if we believe a crime has been committed
- Cooperate with law enforcement investigations and legal proceedings
We will endeavor to provide notice before taking enforcement action, except where we reasonably believe that immediate action is necessary to protect the safety of children, the security of the Service, or as required by law.
